3-A SSI is an independent, non-profit corporation dedicated to advancing the hygienic design of equipment for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.
Created by the US food and dairy industry, 3A Sanitary Standards Inc. defines the specifications and best practices for the design, manufacture, installation and use of sanitary equipment. As with the FDA, 3A standards are implemented on a global basis.
Our O-rings are manufactured in accordance with 3A 18-03 “3A Sanitary Standards” for Multi-Purpose Rubber Materials Used as Product Contact Surfaces in Dairy Product Equipment, and also meet the applicable requirements for cleaning and disinfection solutions.
All 3A Sanitary-approved PPE elastomers are FDA CFR21.177.2600-compliant, contain no animal derived ingredients (ADIs), resistant to sterilisation with steam, fat and water and milk, acid and alkaline cleaning solutions and chlorine disinfectant solutions.
Manufacturers/users of equipment can select the most appropriate elastomeric material in accordance with temperature, chemical and physical performance requirements. 3A 18-03-compliant PPE elastomers include:
